Finally getting around to posting about this project! I shared our Laundry Room Makeover Plans earlier this year, and am happy to share the finished space! We did this on a pretty small budget, and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
Storage Goals
The goal was to make this small laundry closet a lot more functional. We had zero shelving or drying space to begin with, so anything would have been an improvement! We managed to get a free cabinet from my in-laws’ basement, and added some shelving to it using melamine shelving that we cut to size and secured it to the cabinet and walls using small leftover trim pieces. Not only do we now have a large cabinet to store laundry detergent and cleaning supplies, we now have large baskets on the top shelves for extra storage.
We also added a thick wooden dowel and used a rod hardware kit to make a drying rod. We used to need to bring out our flimsy metal drying rack into the hallway every time we did laundry, and now having the space to hang clothes directly in the laundry space has been a game changer!
Countertop
We really wanted a space to fold clothes or put laundry baskets on while doing laundry, and a laminate countertop was the perfect addition. We grabbed an extra long laminate countertop from Ikea and cut it to size, using the leftover cut to act as a faux waterfall base. We secured the countertop pieces together using L brackets, and used a trim piece along the side wall and countertop supports to attach everything to the wall. This was the trickiest part of the project, but it turned out so well and it tied everything together to make this space look less like a closet, and more like an actual laundry room!
Wallpaper
When Livettes Wallpaper reached out for a collaboration, I knew I would be able to find the perfect pattern for this space. I fell in love with the Granny Chic wallpaper right away, and was able to get them to customize it with the colour ‘Windy’. Blue usually isn’t my first choice in colours, but this was giving me major Laundry vibes, and I am obsessed with how it turned out!

Overall, we are THRILLED with this space. We ended up getting a new vacuum with a floor charger to add to the corner space, and I just love how functional everything is now! It was a pretty easy project and added so much more functionality to the space! If you have a tiny laundry space, I definitely recommend adding some extra storage and hanging space. It’s a game changer!
Cheers!
